TWITTER co-founder Jack Dorsey eats only one meal per day and once spent his birthday at a silent retreat where you can’t use technology or make eye contact.

Dorsey officially resigned as CEO of Twitter in 2021, and now, fellow billionaire Elon Musk has paid seven times Dorsey’s net worth to become the platform’s new owner.

The Tesla CEO secured a reported $44billion deal with Twitter on Monday – that is seven times Dorsey’s net worth of $6.6billion.

Dorsey, 45, has made headlines many times in the past for his unique health and wellness ideals.

Last year, he told podcast host Ben Greenfield that he only eats one meal per day, a rather extreme form of intermittent fasting, and sometimes would even skip meals altogether on weekends.

He said fasting helps him focus and “has been a new dimension.”

The tech giant said that he typically eats only dinner and will have a large meal with protein and a lot of greens.

Back in 2018, Dorsey did a meditation retreat in Myanmar and took to Twitter a month later to share his experience.

The tech giant wrote, “I did my meditation at Dhamma Mahimã in Pyin Oo Lwin. This is my room. Basic,” alongside photos of a bare room that appears to just have cots in it.

“During the 10 days: no devices, reading, writing, physical exercise, music, intoxicants, meat, talking, or even eye contact with others.

“It’s free: everything is given to meditators by charity.”

“I woke up at 4 am every day, and we meditated until 9 pm. There were breaks for breakfast, lunch, and walking. No dinner. Here’s the sidewalk I walked for 45 minutes every day,” Dorsey added, sharing another photo of a tranquil-looking walkway.

Dorsey added that he planned to continue working on his meditation practice every year.

“I’ll continue to do this every year, and hopefully do longer and longer each time. The time I take away to do this gives so much back to me and my work.”

DORSEY LEAVING TWITTER

Dorsey made the shocking announcement that he would be leaving Twitter back in November, 2021.

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founder,” Dorsey said in a statement.

“My trust in Parag [Agrawal] as Twitter’s CEO is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformational. I’m deeply grateful for his skill, heart, and soul. It’s his time to lead.”

The entrepreneur also shared the email that he sent internal employees on Twitter, signing off “hi mom!”

Following the news, Twitter stocks were seen to soar up to nine percent higher, while Square – a company that Dorsey is also CEO of – was up three percent.

Nasdaq then quickly suspended the trading of Twitter shares.

The company’s board had been preparing for Dorsey’s departure since 2020, sources said.

The shocking news comes over a decade after Dorsey co-founded the social media platform.

He co-founded Twitter with Ev Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass in 2006.
