Officials said the teens are all males between the ages of 14 and 17.
Two of the fugitives have escaped before, Sergent Tim Meyer said.
In addition to the teen who was charged with murder, the other escapees were serving sentences for a variety of crimes like possession of stolen property and robbery, cops said.
Sgt Meyer said that staff members were assaulted around 7.45am by the escapees and suffered minor injuries.
The teens were able to obtain keys from a 2018 Ford Fusion, which is part of the state motor pool, and fled the facility, according to the Seattle Times.
The King County Sheriff’s Office PIO posted an update noting officers were still trying to locate the boys around noon PST.

“KCSO Major Crimes detectives continue their efforts to locate (5) juveniles (ages 14-17) who escaped from Echo Glen around 7:45 AM today. They fled in a blue 2018 Ford Fusion,” the update said.
Echo Glen Children’s Center is a medium/maximum security facility that is run by the state Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration.
Younger male offenders and female offenders are typically held at the facility, while older male offenders typically serve sentences at Green Hill School in Chehalis.
The Seattle Times reported that this is not the first time a group of teens has broken out from the facility.
In 2012, six teens escaped after knocking a corrections officer unconscious and then locking her in a cell.
The teens stole the officer’s keys before running off into the thickly wooded area around the facility, but they were captured within a few hours.
