NORTH Carolina Central University was evacuated due to a bomb threat as at least six other Historically Black Colleges and Universities received threats as well.
Reports of evacuation began surfacing in the evening on Tuesday after an alert was issued for students and faculty to leave campus immediately.
The NCCU Police Department confirmed that they received reports of a possible bomb threat around 5.30 pm and immediately placed the campus on lockdown.
Multiple police departments and agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, worked together to ensure the campus was clear.
“An all clear was issued at 9:15 p.m. Students that were temporary relocated off campus were transported back to their residence halls,” cops said.
Students and alumni took to Twitter to voice concerns over the incident after the initial alert was issued.
The email alert was sent to students and faculty, urging people to proceed to the nearest exit and vacate the building.
“Leave campus. All employees should return home,” read the NCCU Eagle Alert.

Students who did not have a car or a way to get to the high school were asked to report to the Latham Parking Deck, according to the university’s student government association.
The school also made a tweet telling students to report to the lower lot of the Mary Townes Science Complex parking lot if they required transportation to the evacuation point.
Possible threats were also reported at Norfolk State University in Virginia and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
After the initial alert, NSU’s student government urged students and faculty to report to Lot 14 behind the NSU Police Station to be evacuated via bus.
“If you have a vehicle on campus, please go to your vehicle and leave the premises and proceed to Harbor Park.”
UAPB responded to the threat in a statement:“On Tuesday at approximately 5:16pm, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Police Department received a threat of a bomb on campus.
“While the full student body has not yet returned for the semester, students who are on campus have been relocated off-campus for the evening.”
A full sweep of the campus was done by the UAPB police and other local police and fire departments. The campus has been cleared and normal operations will resume tomorrow at 8am.
“Although the threat was unfounded we ask that everyone remains vigilant.”
